David Archuleta

Archie returned home yesterday afternoon for a concert at the E Center in his home state of Utah for the American Idol’s Live Tour. The 10,000 screaming fans gave him an enthusiastic welcome has he sang Apologize, Stand By Me, and Angels.

According to fan reports, David became so emotional during his set that he broke down and cried, telling the fans that he didn’t think they knew how much their support means to him. He even had to wipe away tears before finishing the song When You Say You Love Me.

Archie also told Desert News that he’s busy choosing songs for his record and will record after the tour ends September 13.

“I’ll be focusing on recording my CD. It’s different choosing the songs for a pop CD than it is for a rock or country CD. There are some good songs out there, and I want to choose the ones that are a good balance of radio hits and emotional songs.”

He’s also working on writing songs, but isn’t sure how that will pan out.

“I just hope that some of the songs I write are actually good enough to be on the CD.”

Crush, the first single from David Archuleta, is being released on August 11!

David Archuleta looks ahead to singing to the giant crowd saying “I wonder what will be different?” and that he’s very interested in seeing how the audiences on each night will react differently to each of his songs. He says he is working on his stage banter, that he wants to express his gratitude, but worries that he will “come across as obnoxious.” When I tell him that “obnoxious” is the last thing anyone on Earth has ever called him, he gives me his trademark nervous giggle and says “I just doing want to seem fake.”

David answered 17 questions for Seventeen magazine and talked about why he is against celebrity crushes, his family, dream job, and guilty pleasures.

1. When was your first kiss?
I haven’t had a first kiss.

2. Who’s your celebrity crush?
I don’t have a crush on anyone yet. I’ve always been against that because it’s like you don’t even know who they are. It’s like when people have a crush on me, it’s just weird when they’ve never even met me. So for me to do that to someone else, it’s kind of weird. I look up to Sara Bareilles, John Mayer, and Jason Mraz.

3. What’s a girl fashion trend that confuses you?
I don’t get those really short skirts.

“I’m just going to go the pop route and find a nice balance between young stuff and those songs I can be expressive with and connect with well,” he said. “I’m really excited. The tour leaves next week, and I’m excited to spend time with the other contestants — being out there, learning how to deal with that situation and gaining that stage experience.”
