David Archuleta

blog.archuletafans.com

David Archuleta is a nice, seventeen year old kid with an overbearing father. He has a good singing voice with which, it could be argued, he adds too many runs and vocal gymnastics then need be. He is innocent, naïve, modest to a fault and, as a result of these things, lacks a distinct personality. He is a blank slate, which may actually be a reason for his season long success on American Idol. With no clearly defined persona, David Archuleta can be anything for anyone who watches American Idol. Perhaps you, teenage girls, see him as the perfect boy – talented, cute and pliable. Perhaps you, grandmothers, see him as the boy you wish your grandkids were. Perhaps you, 30 year old hipster, see him as a talented and un-ironic foil to your typical likes. David Archuleta, blessed with a distinctive voice and cursed/blessed with a father who systematically constructed him a path to stardom, is one night of voting away from winning American Idol. These are the reasons why he will emerge triumphant on Wednesday night:

Inevitability

You don’t always need reasoned, logical explanations for things: it just seems right that David Archuleta will win American Idol. It may not be just in your mind, but the sweet air of inevitability is clearly in Archuleta’s corner. For the entire American Idol season, Archuleta has acted and been judged like the golden boy destined to win. It’s felt like this since the Top 12 began, and that feeling has not gone away.

Voting Fanatics

Stories have floated along on the internet tubes for the last couple months regarding David Archuleta’s fans. How the rabid fanatics have had “voting parties” where they text or call in as many times as humanly possible within the voting window. It’s possible that Archuleta has less fans that the voting results might dictate, simply because his fans vote more than any other group of fans. If this is the case, then expect their efforts to peak on the night it matters most next week.

The Judges

If you keep saying something over and over and over and over again, eventually people start to believe it. The American Idol judges anointed Archie the prohibitive favorite early in the season and their enthusiasm continued throughout. Although Simon has taken his foot off the Archuleta praise pedal oh-so slightly, Randy and Paula still blindly sing David’s praises. If I have to hear Randy say “he could sing the phone book” one more time I will puke in my soup. Nonetheless, the judges have conditioned the audience to like all of David’s performances whether they were actually good or not.

He’s Cuter than David Cook

If you don’t think a significant portion of the voting audience doesn’t just vote for who they think is the cutest, you are kidding yourself.

Utah’s ‘American Idol’ finalist could be singing the national anthem Friday night before the NBA playoff game between the Jazz and Los Angeles Lakers.

David Archuleta, a 17-year-old Murray High School student, has earned rave reviews on the Fox TV show and is among four finalists.

The field will get smaller by Wednesday night.

Archuleta’s appearance at EnergySolutions Arena was announced on the Jazz Web site. But team spokeswoman Linda Luchetti says the NBA still must approve it.

Top 06 Image | Is it lonely without Kristy in that picture? No, not really…because Archuleta is still in it! So, as most of you may know, next week’s theme will be mentored by Andrew Lloyd Webber. Most of you may know him as the creator of such big musicals including Cats and Phantom of the Opera. Blah blah blah…so the week will most likely be limited (once again) to songs created in the musicals of this highly praised man; I like Mariah better. Now the next question, what in the world is David going to sing? Who the f*** knows…I don’t even think David knows…we’ll all survive.

Now on to the second part…remember this?

He cornered David’s biggest competition, Tiffany Evans, in the green room and intimidated her, telling her she’d lose to David. No one knew about it because Tiffany didn’t tell anyone at that time. It wasn’t until later that night, when Jeff Archuleta started calling all night and harassing her in her room that Tiffany and her parents told producers. It became so intense that the producers of Star Search had a meeting and BANNED him from the lot.

jeff archuletaWell…Tiffany Evans just recently told USmagazine.com, “I don’t recall being around his father at all, I’ve heard some things about him, but I was 10 years old, I didn’t really pay attention.” So now who will you believe, gossip websites or a 15 year old friend of David’s that was actually there when “the incident” happened.

JEFF ROCKS!

Wouldn’t it be cool if David sang this?

Top picks from the fans…”When You Believe,” “Never Too Far,” & “Make It Through The Rain.”  We’ll see.

David Archuleta with Mariah CareyI know what David is singing…but do you? The night before another exciting Tuesday, many people are referring to the song choice being “There’s Got To Be a Way.” An unfamiliar song to even Mariah fans, but are they right? Have a listen!

According to Idol’s Musical Director, Michael Orland says, “One of Orland’s picks to wow Cowell & Co. Tuesday night? None other than Idol’s boy wonder, David Archuleta. “It is so natural,” he says of the 17-year-old fan favorite’s vocal talent.

Will this be another fantastic performance from our David Archuleta?

Update:  Okay to stop confusion, he is NOT singing “There’s Got To Be a Way.”

mariah carey top 07How will the Top 07 remaining contestants, including David, be able to handle the songs of Mariah Carey.  Throughout the years, the judges have always criticized contestants for taking on big songs from hit powerhouses including Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston.  Being the mentor for next week’s Mariah theme, how will they judge the contestants on her songs?

Many are speculating on what David will be singing…Another slow song or an upbeat song?  One that has meaning or not?  So many choices to choose from; and my lips are sealed.  Down to a few choices, Archuleta is deciding on the final song choice to perform.  How will he, and all the other contestants, handle the pressure of Mariah Carey?

So…it seems the buzz going around lately is who the front runners are and who will win the title of American Idol Season 7. With tons of polls on the internet clearly showing both Davids to be the lead ins, who is it to win? Family, friends, and fans support David Archuleta 110% that he will continue strong throughout the rest of the competition and win this.  David Archuleta has proven to be the strongest competitor earlier on in the competition, but David Cook has thrown bullets more recently showing that he is there to win.  What are your thoughts Archies?

So on the night of the Top 10, everyone flooded the site because they wanted to know if David had a girlfriend. You guys are all killing me…First off, who cares if David has a girlfriend or not, you can still dream anyway. When discussing his prom plans the girl they panned over to was not his girlfriend, but only a long time friend from high school, Mietra. You are all taking this and making it such a big deal it’s about to make people suicidal.

I wanted to share a post that I found on idolforums.com a little while ago, written by “Chad85“.  Thank you, Chad, for this very thoughtful and informative post.

Archuleta fans, take heed:

David will win if you continue to vote for him, and only him. Again (I find myself saying this alot) - everyone has their 2 or 3 favorites in the top 10. The thing is, once they are in the top 10, you can only have ONE favorite, because, every week they are just as much at risk to leave as anyone else. Most of the time, when your favorite is doing well - your second and third choices aren’t doing so well - you vote for them with the thought that “David must be fine - he’s way ahead in votes”. Wrong thought to have. Fact is, if you think that, everyone else is thinking that as well, so - Jason gets the votes, Carly gets the votes, David Cook gets the votes, cause everyone wants to keep them safe as well. Archie, he’ll go home so that you could boost your second and third choice Idols into the top 2, and, that is what happens all the time.

It’s time to make a decision, and all Archie’s fans have to be unanimous. Archie for the win - no one else. Your other favorites will end up going home, but seriously, only one Idol can win anyways - you decide - who’s it gonna be?

Vote for him as if he had the worst performance in Idol history - and if everyone does that - he’ll continue his movement forward to the top.

Don’t vote for anyone else but Archie.”

I was able to find out the theme for next week ahead of time…
